Experience
I earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in Italian studies from Saint Mary's College. Then, I went on to attend Old Dominion University, where I earned a master's degree in biology with a concentration on molecular biology and microbiology. As a graduate student, I taught laboratory sessions in bacteriology and microbiology for three years. I have delivered guest lectures at San Diego City College, and I've also worked as a molecular biologist. I am currently a professor of biology and microbiology at two different colleges. As a tutor, I take the time to get to know my students' preferred learning styles and academic goals in order to formulate a customized learning plan. I incorporate a wide variety of teaching tools to help my students master concepts, including visual, auditory, and hands-on activities. I'm able to tutor students in a wide variety of science courses, including biology, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, earth science, life science, cell biology, molecular biology, and marine biology. I can also help students taking AP Biology, and enjoy assisting students preparing for the HSPT. I love sharing my enthusiasm for science with all of my students.When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I like spending time with my family, reading, and quilting.
